Self-service kiosk terminal in a bright retail lobby

Industry route · Kiosk & POS

Terminals that know their peripherals, and recover on their own.

A kiosk is judged by what hangs off it: receipt printer, card reader, scanner, cash drawer. Some still speak LPT or PS/2. The board has to carry every protocol, ride the store power and return to the same application state without a field visit.

What the terminal asks for

What the application demands

A terminal is a peripheral rack with a screen. Each requirement below maps to a header or a power range on the model datasheet.

Peripheral stack

Legacy ports on headers

The TOP600B keeps LPT 2×13-pin, PS/2 and six COM on headers. Receipt printers, scales and card readers connect without protocol converters.

Self-recovery

A watchdog instead of a field visit

The TOP600B carries a 0–255 s watchdog and AT/ATX power modes. A hung payment station power-cycles itself and boots back to the application.

Power

Match the supply to the enclosure

DC 12–19V on the TOP600B and AD600NA. The ITX660B takes ATX 24+4-pin where the kiosk chassis already carries a supply.

Fit matrix

Match the peripheral list, then the board.

Headers, power and recovery against the three recommended models. Values are quoted from the model pages.

Kiosk and POS fit

Check the enclosure power before the CPU: two boards take DC, one takes ATX. Confirm revision before design freeze.

Questions

Kiosk & POS, answered.

Legacy peripherals and unattended recovery. The two answers that decide a terminal rollout.

Yes, on the TOP600B. It keeps an LPT 2×13-pin header, PS/2 and six COM ports on board, so legacy printers, scales and readers connect without protocol converters.
